Colin Bell joined the firm now known as Hankin Sandman Palladino Weintrob & Bell in 2008. Focusing on construction, commercial, and employment litigation, as well as appellate advocacy, Mr. Bell also has significant experience in election law and local government law.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with University Honors at American University, Mr. Bell attended American University Washington College of Law, graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctor. While in law school, he participated in Moot Court and Mock Trial Honor Society, received the Newman Prize for Trial Advocacy, and was a Semi-Finalist in the ABA National Trial Advocacy Competition.
Mr. Bell began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael Donio, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Part of the New Jersey Superior Court during the 2005-2006 term. He then joined the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, where he was assigned to the Grand Jury and Trial Sections. During his tenure as an Assistant County Prosecutor, Bell gained substantial jury trial experience. He also served as a police legal advisor and police academy instructor, and received advanced training at the Justice Department's Trial Advocacy Center.
Active in politics, Mr. Bell represented the Atlantic County area in the New Jersey State Senate from 2017-2018 and was previously elected to a three-year term on the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders (now Board of Commissioners), where he served from 2013-2015. He was also a deputy vice-chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee.
In 2008, Atlantic City Weekly recognized Mr. Bell as one of the Greater Atlantic City area's “Top 40 Under 40.” The New Jersey Law Journal selected him as a “New Leader of the Bar” in 2015, and New Jersey Super Lawyers named him a “Rising Star” in the field of Business Litigation from 2010-2015. Mr. Bell serves on the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Services and is a prior board member of Atlantic City Boys & Girls Club, Atlantic City Veterans' Initiative, and Stockton University Holocaust Resource Center.
Mr. Bell is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney and serves as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection. He is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.
